All Things 2024 Hood County Stampede Charity Rodeo

Memorial Day Weekend | Saturday, May 25th

We are in full-fledged planning mode for the 2024 Hood County Stampede Xtreme Bareback Charity Rodeo benefitting the Beau Bear Foundation. This year’s event will once again be a PRCA sanctioned event, hosted in partnership with Visit Granbury and will take place on Saturday, May 25th at the Reunion Grounds in Granbury, TX. Gates will open to the general public at 6:00 PM and the opening ceremonies kicking off at 7:30 PM.

Ticket Info

Tickets are being sold here at $15 for adults, $10 for children 12 and younger, and the option to purchase a cooler fee ticket for $20 along with general admission tickets. Guests can pack any refreshments they so choose in their coolers with the exception of anything glass. No glass will be permitted inside the arena fencing to protect the animals and guests.

EVENT TIP: We recommend purchasing tickets, here, in advance. Pending our presale ticket number, there will only be a limited amount of tickets sold at the gate. For the following 4 years, we have had to shut the gate to walk ups due to reaching the arena’s max capacity according to the fire marshall.

While the main attraction is the bareback riding action with world-class athletes coming out of the chutes, our crowd always goes home highly entertained! You can expect a powerful and patriotic opening ceremony, trick riding performances by Summer & Co. Fearless Equine Stunts, mutton bustin’, crowd games and raffle prizes, giveaways, and the always entertaining Rockin’ Robbie Hodges to emcee it all! Make sure you stick around after the rodeo ends, so you can enjoy live music at our parking lot afterparty with Robbie and local artists.

Ways To Support

From buying general admission tickets to vendors to sponsors to volunteers. There are a variety of ways you can support the Hood County Stampede.

Sponsorships

Our team of board members, committee member, and volunteers are actively meeting with any organization or business interested in supporting the event as a sponsor. We offer some great ways for your brand to show their support for the local community and to the 2,000 guests in attendance. Have your brand associated among the businesses and community leaders who are taking action to support and give back to Hood County, our mission, and local children & families in need.

Take a look at the different sponsorship levels here. We offer a range of options starting at $250.

Support In Other Ways

This event comes together as a group effort, therefore, if sponsoring the Hood County Stampede doesn’t work for you, it is free to share the details among your network of friends, family, & associates. Or review here some of the other great ways you can help the Hood County Stampede.

If you have attended our events, you know we do our very best to put on a world-class rodeo experience. Whether this actually is your first rodeo (pun intended), or you are a veteran of the western lifestyle, you’re sure to enjoy the Hood County Stampedes' Charity Rodeo.

Rodeo Vendor Opportunities

In addition to sponsorships, we also offer the opportunity for vendors to partner with us. Approved vendors are welcome to set up at an assigned, high traffic location at Reunion Grounds to sell their goods, services, and/or refreshments at the rodeo on Saturday.

Vendors approved by our vendor coordinator volunteer will be required to pay a $250 fee that will be donated to the proceeds of the event.

If you are interested in inquiring to become a vendor, please fill out the vendor application here.

How HCS Got Started

The Hood County Stampede is the brainchild of Wes and Francie Stevenson. After moving to Granbury in 2016, a friend's four year old was diagnosed with a brain tumor. In an effort to outreach to the community for help they ran into obstacles. Local businesses wanted to step in and offer support, but many were limited on how much they could give without a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization to give to.

Wes and Francie had a strong network within the rodeo community. Wes had recently hung up his riggin’ after a successful rodeo career as a 9x NFR qualifying professional bareback rider. They decided to combine their knowledge and network from rodeo and their love and ambition for pouring back into their local community.

Wes and Francie recruited some close friends and family who helped them lay the foundation. They received their 501(c)3 delineation, designed a logo & a website, and hosted their first charity rodeo in September 2017 as a bulls, bares, and broncs rough stock event. Since then it has evolved, bringing in bullfighting in 2018 and eventually making the shift to a stand alone bareback riding event in 2022. It has proved to be wildly successful as each year since 2019 we reached arena capacity, according to the fire marshall, causing us to turn away walkup's at the gate.

Why Bareback Riding?

This single event format has gained popularity in recent years in rodeo. The PRCA has Xtreme Bulls and now Xtreme Broncs events. Then, there’s the Riggin’ Rally or now called the Yellowstone Darby Xtreme Bareback. With Wes being a 9x NFR bareback riding qualifier, bareback riding is where his heart and passion has always been. He and Francie know that event best, and knew they had the knowledge and network to build something great for their community in this format.

Since making this shift in 2022, they have built a world-class rodeo that attracts a roster of talent that could rival any major rodeo in the country. Nowhere else can you see this amount of elite professional bareback talent in this type of small-town, intimate, rodeo experience.

Over the last few years this rodeo has opened the chute gates for names like Will Lowe, Rocker Steiner, Keenan Hayes, Colt Eck, Leighton Berry, Tim O’Connell, Tilden Hooper, Bill Tutor, Waylon Bourgeois, Bodee Lammers, Seth Hardwick, Cole Franks, Tanner Aus, Chad Rutherford, Orin Larsen, and more. We'll be announcing this year's roster when athlete registration opens up. Stay tuned for more!
