Meet The Hood County Stampede Team: Nate Burger

Get to know the hardworking team behind the scenes at the Hood County Stampede! Our next highlight in our Meet The Team series, introducing Nate Burger.

Treasurer: Nate Burger

We are pleased to spotlight our board of directors' treasurer, Nate Burger. Nate is our newest member to the board and fits right in as a hardworking, dedicated member of our team this year.

A Texas native, Nate was born in San Antonio, attended Blinn College then transferred to Tarleton State University for their Wildlife Management program. After earning his bachelor's degree, Nate entered the oil and gas industry, which eventually led him to his current role at Diversified Energy which then led him to calling Granbury home.

Pursuing Purpose As A Professional

When Diversified Energy partnered as a sponsor, his role with the company introduced him to our charity rodeo. Nate’s interest in rodeo and his desire to use his financial and operational experience for a greater good in the community led him straight to Hood County Stampede founders, Wes & Francie Stevenson

Nate wasted no time stepping into his role on the board as a leader and has been diverse in his contributions. No pun intended! From lending his expertise on the financial and operational side of our organization to digging trenches in the arena and erecting light towers in the parking lot for the rodeo, Nate is always ready and willing to do whatever needs to get done. He might even come with a dog and his dad in tow to ensure it’s always fun!

“Getting to be a part of the planning and execution for the charity rodeo this year, seeing all the parts and people come together, plus, witnessing the impact all of our efforts had for our beneficiary and the local community was not only extremely gratifying but it confirmed for me that accepting the invite and opportunity to join the board and volunteering to be a part of this team was exactly where I am supposed to be.”  - Nate

Cornerstone of Life: Family, Friends & King George

Nate is happily married to his beautiful wife, Ashley, and together they have two dogs, Jola and Ella and a cat, Lucy. His family’s support and love are the cornerstone of his daily life. While he is highly dedicated to showing up for his commitments, Nate is an easy going guy. A kiss from his wife, the dog’s tails wagging, and some tunes from some George Strait or The Great Divide and his day is A-ok!

Nate is an avid hunter, enjoys coastal fishing, playing golf, and embarking on travel adventures with friends and family.

Joining MLB Icons For Taking Down a Taco

Fun fact about Nate, if you’re a sports fan from the 80’s and 90’s, he is a part of an elite group of people that includes former professional athletes Nolan Ryan, Pete Rose, Cal Ripken Jr., Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and others. Nate was asked to tackle Henry the Puffy Taco at a San Antonio Missions baseball game before it reached the infamous Morganna, the Kissing Bandit. Needless to say his take down earned him a kiss from Morganna herself, who too had kissed many former Major League Baseball legends and other professional athletes back in the day.

The Golden Rule

Nate has been a pivotal addition to the Hood County Stampede. His benevolence and consideration for others guides his leadership, believing in the simple golden rule that transcends time; treat others as one would want to be treated. This key principle is at the helm of his dedication to his family, friends, work, community, and now his position on the Hood County Stampede Board of Directors.

We’re incredibly proud and grateful to have Nate as part of the Hood County Stampede team. His hard work, passion, and heartfelt commitment is admirable and highly respected. He has been an invaluable asset from day one.

We hope everyone gets the opportunity to meet Nate along with the rest of our remarkable team, all who volunteer their time, talent, and effort to serve our mission and help lift up our local community for a greater good.
